Women’s Lacrosse: High Point Picks Up Road Win at Michigan, 13-12

• Junior Erica Perrotta passed the 100-career point mark with two goals and an assist
• Junior Brooke Stevens recorded her second-career hat trick
• Freshman Jill Rall made seven saves in her first collegiate start

ANN ARBOR, Mich.—The High Point University women’s lacrosse team picked up its first road win of the season at Michigan, 13-12, Friday (March 10) at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Panthers (2-3) were able to build a 12-8 lead with 10 minutes to go, but the Wolverines (1-6) scored three-consecutive goals to cut the lead to one at 12-11. During the Michigan run, the game was delayed for an hour after the fire alarm went off and a safety check was conducted.

Junior Erica Perrotta scored her ninth goal of the season with 1:54 to give HPU a 13-11, but U-M scored 22 seconds later. Sophomore Samantha Herman secured the crucial draw control and the Panthers were able to hold on for the win.

Junior Brooke Stevens scored the second hat trick of her career, while junior Darla Poulin added two goals and three assists. Senior Samantha Brown and Perrotta each had two goals and an assist.

Freshman Jill Rall made seven saves in her first collegiate start to earn the win. Alli Kothari made nine saves for the Wolverines, but took the loss.

“Tonight was a great game, Michigan fought hard when were up early in the second half and really held us accountable for our mistakes,” HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell said. “I’m proud of the fight that my team had through a little adversity and very proud of Brooke (Stevens) and Jill (Rall) for stepping up when the team needed them tonight. Overall, it was a full team effort and I’m very proud of the way the team is playing right now.”

Michigan led in draw controls, 17-10, while High Point held a slight edge in shots, 29-28.

Perrotta passed the 100-point milestone for her career and now has 68 goals and 33 assists for the Purple & White. She also caused three turnovers and now has 65 for her career, the third-most in school history.

Up next, the Panthers host George Mason on Wednesday (March 15). First draw at Vert Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
