GTCC Women’s Basketball Back to the Ball(Dance) and GTCC Titans Baseball on the move/ball at (14-7)

The Guilford Technical Community College/GTCC Titans’ women’s basketball team is headed back to the national championship tournament after clinching the Region X title with a 2-point win over Cape Fear CC. Best of luck to Coach Bobby Allison and the Lady Titans, as they continue on their journey….

The GTCC Titan baseball team is off to a great start as well with a 14-7 overall record. They currently lead the nation in home runs with 36- led by Colin Lipke (Ragsdale HS) and Ryan Caveness (Southern Guilford HS) who both have 7 homers each and are both hitting over .400. They are also in the top 10 nationally in doubles, triples, and slugging percentage. The GTCC Titans are pretty fun baseball team to watch!!!

+++++Caveness batting .438 with 27 RBI and Lipke batting .419 with 21 RBI…..+++++

  1. I’ve been around baseball my whole life and had the opportunity to be work as a pro scout and also coached on the collegiate level for many years. I’m now retired and enjoy attending College games in the Triad. Have seen GTCC play 4 or 5 times, and they are as good as any team offensively I’ve seen in a long time. They have more power 1-9 in that lineup then any other local program by far. Its nice to see traditional “rotational hitting” and applaud the HC for letting them swing the bat.

  2. I believe Lipke lead that Region in BA last year as well? Those are impressive power numbers! He was D1 talent in HS but his size hurt him in recruiting. Most be 6’0 and about 210lbs now… Where has he committed to play next? Great character kid and wish him well!

  3. Andy,

    Have these 2 guys committed? You look at Region X stats and a lot of talent in this area.

  4. Caveness has committed to UNCG for next year and Lipke has been getting a lot of interest lately from a number of D1 and D2 programs but remains uncommitted.

    They are both exceptional players as well as exceptional young men…as are all our baseball players at GTCC. They are all a joy to coach and haven’t let distractions and program shortcomings derail what is quickly becoming the best season in Titan baseball history!

  5. Coach Barrow has it going on over there in Jamestown with his GTCC Titans and the GTCC Women’s Basketball team has got something going on over there too and we are the only ones bringing them up in here and getting them some coverage…

    Go Titans and everyone be sure to “Remember the Titans”, from GTCC…..

  6. From Coach Barrow’s notes/stats that he sent us,

    Kernen(3-1) 4.45 ERA, 7 starts, 10 BB’s/29 K’s, 32 1/3 Innings, giving up 22 runs on 40 hits….

  7. Wyatt,
    Kernen gets better with each outing. He has developed into quite a presence on the mound for us and will only get better. He signed in the fall with NC Central and I really believe that his best days on the mound are ahead of him. Another great kid with strong work ethic who is starting to reap the benefits of his hard work! Thanks for asking about him
