Track and Field: HPU Concludes First Day of Bill Webb Combined Events

HIGH POINT, N.C.—The High Point University women’s track and field team finished action on the first day of the Bill Webb Combined Events Classic Thursday (March 16) at Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C.

In the heptathlon after four of seven events, senior Erika Bridges is in sixth place with 2,442 points. Junior CeAnna Soper is seventh with 2,355 points and freshman Anika Weisbrod is ninth with 2,132.

“We need to take advantage of the opportunities given to us, especially when competing at home,” HPU head coach Mike Esposito said.

Soper was the top finisher in the shot put with a throw of 10.53m (34-6.75).

The Bill Webb Combined Events Classic concludes Friday (March 17), while the Bob Davidson Kick-Off Classic begins as well. Action at Vert Stadium is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
