College Men’s Golf Results – Guilford 16th After 36 Holes at Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Kell Graham and Josh Hill both shot even-par 72 for Guilford College in the Quakers’ second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Golf Invitational Saturday. The pair helped Guilford shoot 297 as a team and climb into 16th place among 29 teams after 36 holes.

Emory University carded the day’s second-lowest round (287) and took a two-stroke lead over Oglethorpe University and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Universities atop the team leaderboard, 582-584. Washington and Lee University (586), Illinois Wesleyan University (587) and Greensboro College (587) round out the top five.

Huntingdon College’s Addison Lambeth and Illinois Wesleyan’s Drew Pershing share the top spot among individuals at 141. Pershing fired the day’s low score (67) to pull even with Lambeth, who had the first-round lead with Friday’s 69.

Guilford’s Graham had a team-high four birdies in his round of 72 on the par-72, 6,700-yard Pine Lakes Course Saturday. Hill had three birdies, three bogies and 12 pars in his round, which moved him into a share of 23rd-place in the 150-man field at 147. Harrison Frye also had four birdies, which helped him to a 75 Saturday after an opening-round 80. Zach Evens provided Guilford’s fourth score Saturday with a 78. Senior Ty Palmer shot 79 and classmate Kendall Dunn carded a 77 playing as an individual.

The field includes 15 teams ranked in the top 25 of this week’s Golfstat.com NCAA Division III Head-to-Head Ratings, including the 16th-ranked Quakers and five top-10 squads.

Coach Justin Tereshko’s club concludes the 54-hole tournament Sunday (3/19).
