Elon Men’s Golf Opens Play at Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. ā€“ The Elon University men’s golf team is currently in fifth place after the first two rounds of action on Saturday, March 18, at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular.

DAY ONE RESULTS

Elon (295-308–603) is currently eight strokes away from the top-three and is tied with Florida Atlantic for fifth after 36 holes. TCU (301-283–584) is currently in first place and has an eight-stroke lead on second-placed Marquette.

The Highlights
Jake Leavitt leads the Phoenix individually and is tied for 12th after posting a four-over 148 through 36 holes. He got off to a hot start shooting a one under-par 71 in the first round, which included two birdies and an eagle on the par-four fifth hole.

In addition, Jared Mactas is also in the top-25 and is tied for 22nd individually. He made eight birdies for the day. In the second round, he shot a team-low three-over 75 and made four birdies to move up 14 spots individually.

Both Philip Loeb and Charlie May are just a stroke behind Mactas and are both tied for 28thindividually after each carded a 152 (+8) after 36 holes. William Harwood is tied for 78th overall after the first two rounds. The Phoenix started off strong draining 16 birdies and an eagle in the first round on the El Campeon Golf Course.

Up Next
The Phoenix returns to action tomorrow morning for the final round of the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular. The final round will tee off with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m.
