Badmaev Leads Elon Women’s Golf on Day One of Babs Steffens Invitational

DELAND, Fla. – Kelsey Badmaev’s two-over 74 led the Elon University women’s golf team to a sixth place standing following the first round of the Babs Steffens Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Highlights
Beginning on the back nine, Badmaev began her day with an eagle on the par-five 10th hole. She would add two birdies over the next eight holes and make the turn at three-under. Badmaev added one more birdie over her final nine holes of the tournament to finish the round at 74, good enough to be tied for seventh in the field of 62 players.

Both Aurelia Hamm and Heather Munro carded a 76 over their first 18 holes of the tournament and are tied for 16th. Hamm posted four birdies, while Munro added two for the maroon and gold.

Five strokes back in a tie for 40th is Hilda Kristjansdottir who had three birdies on day one. Rounding out Elon’s contingent is Anali Otazo Rodas who shot an 82 and is tied for 45th.

Round two of the three-day Babs Steffens Invitational will be played on Sunday, March 26. The first Phoenix golfer will hit the course at 1:29 p.m.
