Elon T&F: Personal Bests Shine on Raleigh Relays Finale

RALEIGH, N.C. – A couple of new personal and collegiate bests highlighted the Elon University women’s track and field team’s final day at the Raleigh Relays on Saturday afternoon, March 25, at the Paul Derr Track at NC State.

RESULTS

In the hammer throw, senior Briana O’Grady set a new personal-best with a toss of 167’ 0” (50.91m). She finished 14th overall in the event for the Phoenix with the third-best performance in school history.

Another personal-record was set in the triple jump as senior Carrie Abraham set a new mark in the event. Abraham finished fourth overall with a leap of 40’ 4.25” (12.30m) as Elon’s top athlete in the event. Fellow senior Jayna Coyle was 13th overall with her leap of 38’ 1.5” (11.62m).

Rookie Skylar Barthelmes earned a top-10 standing in the javelin throw for the maroon and gold. The Dartmouth, Mass., native had a throw of 127’ 5” (38.85m) in the event, the third-best in school history.

Lydia Laws ran a time of 1:03.88 in the 400-meter hurdles as the Phoenix’s top finisher in the race. She later helped the Phoenix’s 4×400-meter relay team of herself, Desiree Ross, Katie Arbogast and Lauren Brzozowski clocked a time of 3:53 in the event.

The Phoenix returns to the track for a visit to Triad rival High Point for the VertKlasse Meeting on March 31 and April 1.
