Coach Deborah Jones would like to get the word out on her resignation as the girls head basketball coach at Page High School, where her teams won 306 games over the past 17 season and have qualified for the playoffs for the past 16 straight seasons, winning numerous titles along the way and helping many high school basketball players and their families in the process….

Here is that letter from Deborah Jones as we received it last week:

After much thought and prayer, I have decided to resign as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Page High School. The past 17 years have been an incredible journey. Being a head coach takes an incredible amount of time and energy and at this time of my life, I believe it is time for new leadership to take over. This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with some great players, parents and coaches over the years. Saying goodbye to my returning players is the hardest part of all of this, though I know they will move on and do fine without me, but I will miss the daily contact in the season with some of the finest student athletes and just great individuals here at Page High School.

The past 17 years have been some of the best, most memorable years of my life. I would like to thank Rusty Lee for giving me the opportunity to be the Head Coach of a great program and providing invaluable knowledge and support. I would like to thank my assistant coaches over the past 17 years for your hard work and dedication to basketball. I would like to thank all the ladies who I have had the privilege of coaching as they were allays willing to put in the effort and go the extra mile to make the team competitive both on the court and in the classroom. I would like to thank the parents, Page alumni and the Page community for their support and encouragement throughout the years. Finally, I want to thank my Mom and Dad for instilling the passion for sports at an early age. The life lessons they taught me were instrumental in shaping the person I am today. Thank you to my twin sister Loretta, my sister Pam, my brother James, my nieces Taylor and Morgan, and my nephew Nicolas for supporting the Page Women’s Basketball Program. Thank you to my family and our “Dawg Pound”.

Sincerely,
Coach Deborah Jones
