Women’s Golf: High Point Finishes Eighth at Mimosa Hills

MORGANTON, N.C.—The High Point University women’s golf team finished eighth as action concluded at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate Monday (April 3) at the Mimosa Hills Country Club (Par 72 – 6,099 yards) in Morganton, N.C.

The Panthers finished eighth with a two-round total of 625 after shooting 312 on Monday.

“We certainly did not have the week we had hoped for coming off of a victory two weeks ago,” HPU head coach Alexis Bennett said. “But, the team fought hard today in some really tough conditions, unfortunately it just wasn’t enough.

“I’m thankful to have such a passionate and hard-working group; a setback like this weekend will only motivate us further. We are confident in the work we’re putting in and are looking forward to getting back out there at the Big South Championship.”

Freshman Samantha Vodry shot 4-over 76 in the second round to finish as the top HPU finisher and 17th overall at 9-over 153. Senior Danielle Fuss and junior Cayla Smith placed in a tie for 28th overall at 12-over 156. Fuss shot 5-over 77, while Smith shot an 82.

Freshman Tonrak Tasaso improved on her first-round score by six shots with a 77 and finished tied for 42nd at 160, while sophomore Devi Meyers improved seven shots with an 84 and placed tied for 62nd with a two-round tally of 175.
