Pride Outlasts Storm To Defeat Brevard, 13-12

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men’s lacrosse team held on down the stretch to top the Tornados of Brevard College Wednesday, 13-12.

Kyle Dahlin gave Greensboro a 1-0 lead with 8:01 showing on the first period clock before the Tornados scored the final two goals of the period to take a 2-1 lead into the second period.

Greensboro then established their largest lead of the game at 4-2 following three straight goals to open the period. Davis Miller scored off an assist from Andrew Klementz before Dahlin and Ryan Cole found the back of the net.

The Pride held their two-goal advantage before Brevard rallied back to tie the game at four heading into halftime.

The two teams then traded goals over the first nine minutes of the third period but Greensboro was once again able to establish a two-goal lead at 10-8 following a three-goal spurt. Miller, Victor Mehtrens and Michael Sehlhorst tallied the goals, while Austin Bane and Mehrtens tallied one assist each.

Brevard was able to tie the game at 10 with 9:45 left but the Pride outscored the Tornados 3-2 over the final nine minutes of play to secure the one-goal victory. Daniel Wolf tallied two goals, while Sehlhorst had the other goal.

Chris DiBlasi recorded the win in goal after recording 10 saves. Philip Gerber went 14-of-29 in the faceoff circle, while Justin Matthews recorded a team-high nine groundballs.

“It felt great to get the win today,” Head Coach Mike Foderaro said. “It shows the guys that if we keep playing hard we can play great lacrosse.

“Some guys really stepped up big today to help the team win.”
