ELON, N.C. – Elon University sophomore forward Tyler Seibring collected yet another postseason award on Tuesday, April 11, earning a spot on the NCCSIA All-State Second-Team, as announced by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association.
The Normal, Ill., native added to his numerous awards earned this season, which includes his CoSIDA Academic All-America accolade and his CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor. He became the program’s first CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the eighth player selected as an Academic All-American and first since 2011. Seibring also was awarded a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Men’s Basketball Team for the first time.
An All-CAA Second Team and CAA All-Academic Team honoree, Seibring played and started in all 32 games his sophomore season. He led the Phoenix in scoring (14.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.9 rpg), both which ranked in the top-12 in the CAA. The Elon forward shot 47.1% from the floor, knocked down 60 three-pointers, and made nearly 40% of his attempts from beyond the arc. He scored double figures 23 times and had six games with 20 or more points. He was twice named the CAA Player of the Week during the 2016-17 campaign.
Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.
Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
