College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Bridgewater 18, Guilford 9

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Anna O’Hara scored five goals and an assist in Bridgewater College’s 18-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Guilford College Saturday. The Eagles (8-4, 3-2 ODAC) scored 11 of the game’s final 15 goals to break open a two-goal contest early in the second half.

O’Hara had three scores and an assist in Bridgewater’s 6-1 game-opening run. Claire Palermo-Re capped the spurt with a man-up goal 12:27 before halftime. The Quakers (6-8, 3-3 ODAC) scored three of the half’s final four markers and trailed at the break, 7-4.

The Quakers’ Abigail Horchar opened the second-half scoring 88 seconds into the frame off a Taylor Campellone assist. The rookie’s score made it a 7-5 game, but Bridgewater erupted for six goals in less than four minutes, which opened a 13-6 edge with 23:18 left. Sarah Yashinskie and Dwyer Neal both tallied twice during the 6-1 run. Guilford’s Demming Carlow stemmed the tide with her team-leading third goal of the contest, but the Eagles put the game out of reach with four straight scores, two by Kristen Stark.

Stark and Palermo-Re both contributed three goals and an assist to the Eagles’ effort. Seven different students scored, including Yashinskie, Neal and Annie Sullivan, who each tallied twice. Bridgewater held a 29-20 edge in shots and put 24 shots on goal. The Eagles collected 16 of the game’s 27 draw controls, eight by Kayla O’Sullivan. Mackenzie Parcell had three ground balls and caused three turnovers. Goalie Rachel Gruber had six saves and two ground balls.

Carlow’s three scores paced the Quakers’ offense. She also picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover. Amanda Dionne scored twice, and Summer Fowler added a goal and three assists for a team-best four points. Sammi Milbourn (4 saves, 3 ground balls) and Sarah Sedaghat (2 saves) split time in goal with Milbourn playing 49 minutes.

Coach Sarah Lamphier’s Quakers host nationally ranked league-rival Washington and Lee University Saturday (4/22) in Guilford’s Senior Day Game.
