Box Score | Play-by-Play

For Elon (18-19, 8-4 CAA), James Venuto (3-for-6, one run, one RBI), Ty Adcock (3-for-5, two runs) and Cam Devanney(3-for-5, two runs, one RBI) all had three-hit days at the plate. Both Joe Satterfield and Will Nance drove in two runs for the Phoenix.

Towson (14-19, 3-6 CAA) got its lone run on a Logan Burke hit and had no players with more than one hit.

Kyle Brnovich (4-2) was solid on the mound again for the maroon and gold. The freshman struck out seven in 8.0 innings, scattering six hits and allowing one run to earn the win.

The loss went to Michael Adams (2-4) who was charged with six runs (five earned) on 11 hits in 5.0 innings.

How It Happened: As it did in the first two games of the series, Elon jumped out to a first-inning lead. On Sunday, Satterfield led off the game with a double down the right field line and then scored on a Venuto double to right-center with one out. After an infield single from Kyle Jackson and a wild pitch put two in scoring position for the Phoenix, Nance drove home both runners with a two-out single to center.

Towson got on the board in the last of the second. A.J. Gallo led off with a single through the right side of the infield, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Burke’s two-out double down the right field line to make it a 3-1 contest.

With runners on the corners with no outs in the top of the fourth, Devanney lined a single to left to score Elon’s fourth run of the game. The Phoenix would add on again in the sixth as Ryne Ogren’s single with runners on first and second scored Shawn Blake to give Elon a 5-1 advantage. Jackson’s two-out single to left would later plate Devanney with the second run of the inning.

Singles from Adcock and Devanney put runners on the corners with one out for Satterfield in the seventh before the freshman delivered a two-run double to the gap in right-center as Elon built an 8-1 lead.

Notes: Brnovich has now struck out 66 hitters on the year, moving up to third on Elon’s Division I freshman record list… His four win are also tied for the fifth-most by an Elon freshman at the Division I level… The 19 Phoenix hits were the most by the program since a 23-hit outing against Penn State on Feb. 13, 2015.

On Deck: Elon returns home next Friday to open a three-game conference series against Delaware. That game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
