Elon Men’s Golf Completes Round One of CAA Championships

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Jake Leavitt led the way on day one and is in the top-10 individually as the Elon University men’s golf team completed the first round of the 2017 CAA Men’s Golf Championships on Friday, April 21, at Salisbury Country Club.

RESULTS | ROUND TWO TEE TIMES

Elon finished the round with a three over-par 291 and has three individauls in the top-25 after day one. The Phoenix currently stands in a tie for sixth with James Madison and is just a stroke away from entering the top-five. Three-time defending CAA Champion College of Charleston leads the tournament by seven strokes after round one.

Due to inclement weather in the region on Sunday, the final 36 holes will be played on Saturday, April 22. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m.

THE HIGHLIGHTS
Leavitt posted Elon low round on Friday with a two under-par 70 after 18 holes. The junior turned in his first round scorecard after sinking four birdies and 12 pars.

Jared Mactas was the second Phoenix to be in the top-25 individually after round one after carding an even-par round of 72, which is just two strokes out of the top-10. The senior is currently in a tie for 17th. Philip Loeb was Elon’s third competitor in the top-25, as his two-over 74 places him in a tie for 25th individually.

William Harwood finds himself a stroke outside of the top-25 after posting a three-over 75 after the first 18 holes of action. Charlie May rounded out Elon’s scores, posting a seven-over 79 and is 42nd overall.

UP NEXT
The Phoenix wraps up the 2017 CAA Championships with 36 holes on Saturday, April 22, at the Salisbury Country Club in Midlothian, Va. Elon is paired with William & Mary and Hofstra for the final day and will tee off starting at 7:30 a.m.
