GREENSBORO, N.C. – Andrew Thomas and Logan Adams combined for four goals and five assists in 17th-ranked Lynchburg College’s 17-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win over Guilford College Saturday.

The Hornets (10-5, 7-1 ODAC), ranked 17th in this week’s United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association NCAA Division III Poll, tallied the game’s first seven goals and never looked back in their sixth straight victory.
Adams had a goal and two assists in the game-opening burst, which helped Lynchburg to an 11-2 halftime advantage. Thomas netted all three of his goals and Michael Githens tallied twice in the second quarter. The Hornets outshot Guilford, 24-11, in the opening half.

The teams played evenly in the third stanza as both clubs scored twice, but Lynchburg reeled off four straight scores in the fourth quarter to open a 17-4 margin. John Padden, one of 10 Guilford seniors honored prior to the game, scored his first college goal and Aswan Bland added a marker in the final four minutes to provide the final margin.

Chris Carmara scored twice and Colin McGuire contributed a goal and two assists for Lynchburg, which had 13 different goal scorers. Tyler Gallagher paced a solid defensive effort with three ground balls and linemate Chris Hamilton forced two of the Quakers’ 20 turnovers. C.J. Santora, the first of three Hornets’ goalies, made seven of the team’s 12 saves in two-and-a-half quarters of work.

Zach Berkowitz paced Guilford’s offense with two goals and an assist. Parker Styles made seven saves in three-and-a-half quarters in goal. He also caused two turnovers and picked up a game-high five ground balls. The Quakers’ Alex Ramey won seven-of-10 face-offs.
