In its fourth year of competition, Elon’s season continues Friday, May 12, against Virginia in Chapel Hill, N.C. Opening draw time will be determined later on. Currently at 13-6 this year, Elon is looking to extend its program record for most wins in a season with a run in the Big Dance.

The Phoenix’s opponent – Virginia – finished the season 11-8 and reached the ACC Semifinals, but fell 15-12 to Syracuse there after beating Louisville in overtime the day before. This will be Elon’s second matchup of the season against Virginia. The Phoenix defeated the Cavaliers 11-10 back on Feb. 11 in Charlottesville, Va., on a goal by Abby Godfrey with just one second to play.

Elon advanced to the CAA title game Sunday after defeating No. 17 Towson on Friday night, May 5, in the CAA Semifinals at Johnny Unitas Stadium. The victory over the Tigers gave the Phoenix and third win over a nationally-ranked opponent and the fourth in program history. On Sunday, James Madison got off to a hot start in jumping out to a 6-0 lead on the way to a 15-7 win to capture its 10th conference tournament championship overall and second in the last three years.
