It was 3-1, the Corinth Holders Pirates over the Northern Guilford Nighthawks last year on May 18, out on Spencer Dixon Road and this year, Corinth Holders(19-4) is coming back for 2017 Round Two NCHSAA baseball playoff action, vs. NG(24-3), with game time set for 5pm on Saturday afternoon….
John Clark Ouzts got the start for Northern last year vs. the CH Pirates and JC went 5 Innings, giving up 1 run on three hits, while walking no Corinth Holders batters and in the process, striking out 10 Pirates….Outstanding outing for Ouzts last year and you may see him on the mound
again, tomorrow afternoon/night….
Troy Minor was 2-3 at the plate vs. CH for NG in the battle on May 18 last season, while Ouzts went 1-2 with a Double, plus Joe Millwee had a Double in three plate appearances….
Minor with a HR and 20 RBI this season, plus he has 2 Doubles to go with his .320 batting average….Joe Millwee leads the Nighthawks with 26 RBI, and that goes along with his 2 HR/6 Doubles and his .317 BA…JT Jarrett leads NG in batting at .438, with 32 runs scored, 4 Doubles and 14 RBI…Then Northern has Evan Mericka at .357, Logan King at .346 and Bryant Carry at .329, plus King and Carrey, have 6 Doubles each…Carrey with 24 runs scored and 15 RBI…Brandon Bledsoe, Logan King and Josh Pike, all with 14 RBI each….

The Corinth Holders baseball team cruised by Union Pines, 7-1, in the opening round of the 2017 N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A playoffs.
The eight-seeded Pirates will visit top-seed Northern Guilford later this week in the second round. The Nighthawks won their game against Fike, 7-5.
Tate Proctor went 4-4 with two triples and Mason Cooper provided a first-inning home run, and Josh Jarman allowed just two hits over four scoreless innings to earn the win.

From what we have been reading, Mason Cooper has been a powerhouse player for Corinth Holders over the past two-three seasons….He is headed for Barton College, upon graduation….
Our local Guilford County team, Southwest Guilford, topped Corinth Holders in the Final/Championship Game of the Bobby Murray Tournament down in Raleigh, back in mid-April and for the Corinth Holders’ head baseball coach Adam Weaver, the CH Pirates’ Mason Copper almost made this an MC/Mason Copper MVP finish…
But the finish was the SWG Cowboys, 2-1 over Corinth Holders and Coach Weaver, from Corinth Holders, is not holding nothing back, when he talks about the play of Mason Cooper…..

Corinth Holders came so close to winning the title game of the 30th Bobby Murray Invitational High School Baseball Tournament Saturday night at Millbrook. But it was Southwest Guilford that pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the 2-1 victory.
Had the Pirates captured the championship trophy, there’s also a good chance that senior Mason Cooper could have also taken home the Most Valuable Player trophy.
But Cooper’s performance was what Corinth Holders coach Adam Weaver and Cooper’s teammates have come to expect from the three-year starter.
“Mason is is a hard-nosed kid, whatever it takes to play,” Weaver said. “He’s the personality of our team. He makes great plays at first base and hits in the four hole for us.”
He’s also part of a tight-knit Pirates pitching staff.
“Kody Cyr is our No. 1 and (Conner) Bass also starts,” Cooper said. Weaver has also called on Josh Jarman and Tate Proctor.
Against the Cowboys, Bass started on the mound and left in the fourth inning with the score tied 1-1. Cooper took over on the mound with two men on and got three straight outs to end the threat. He then pitched into the eighth inning. Having thrown close to 20 innings this year he knew he would be called on in the three-day tournament.
