Eastern Guilford High School Announces New Head Women’s Basketball Coach- Shamiah Harvey

Eastern Guilford High School announces Friday, May 26, 2017 that the new head women’s basketball coach of the Wildcats will be Ms. Shamiah Harvey.

Coach Harvey is currently on the teaching staff at Eastern Guilford High School and enters her first season as a varsity head coach for the Women’s basketball program for Eastern Guilford High School.

Coach Harvey comes to Eastern Guilford with years of experience from Page High School as both player and JV Head/Varsity Assistant coach all under Coach Debbie Jones where she has experienced much success.

Eastern Guilford hopes to see Coach Harvey build a program that will consist of a culture of successful tradition within the coming years.

Education-

· 2005 Graduate Page High School

· 2009 Graduate UNC-Wilmington

Coaching-

Coach Harvey was the Head Coach of the Junior Varsity Women’s Basketball program at Page High School from 2012-2016. During that time she earned a record of 52-12. Coach Harvey also served as an Assistant Coach on the Varsity Women’s team during those four years. Throughout this period, the Varsity Women’s Basketball program made the playoffs four consecutive years. They were Conference Champions, two-time Conference Tournament Champions and Runner-Up in the 4A State Championship Game.

Coach Harvey is looking forward to bringing new energy, excitement and a winning spirit to the Lady Wildcats athletic program.

  1. I hope this is the piece those young ladies at Eastern needs. EG has alot of talent but unfortunately, didn’t have the coaching experience needed to elevate their success. Hopefully this is what was needed. Just isn’t sure if she was already on staff there with her experience why wasn’t she hired 2 years ago.
