HiToms Win 7-1 On Memorial Day!

It was an extremely hot day at the ballpark on this Memorial Day holiday. The HiToms squared off against the Carolina Pirates.

The Pirates scored first in the 2nd inning on a sacrifice flyout from Xavier Harrison to bring in Jamal Keels.

For the first time in three games, it took the HiToms more than one inning to get their first run. In the 3rd, Kole McKinnon hit an RBI double to drive in Jordan Howard and then Evan Edwards hit a sacrifice fly to drive in McKinnon and the HiToms lead 2-1.

Josh Stikeleather started on the mound for the HiToms. He pitched two innings and gave up the 1 run on a sac fly. Dylan Southerland pitched a perfect 3rd and 4th inning.

Austin Chasting came into relieve the 6th and 7th innings and he kept the Pirates off the board as well striking out 5 batters.

In the bottom of the 7th inning, Evan Edwards hit a 2 run home run over the right field wall to drive in Kole McKinnon to widen the HiTom lead to 3.

Chase Martin pitched the 8th inning, after loading the bases, a pop up to second and then a double play from Jordan cleared the Pirate threat and the HiToms maintained their 3 run lead.

E.P. Reese came into score after he was hit by a pitch and got around the bases on a few wild pitches to make it 5-1 late in the 8th. Then newcomer Jacob Adkins did the same to widen the lead even more.

Jason Goe worked the 9th inning for the HiToms and pitched a near perfect frame to end the ballgame.

The HiToms win by a final score of 7-1. The first game of CPL play begins on Wednesday as the HiToms host the Asheboro Copperheads.

  1. Xavier Harrison he is a Grimsley alumni playing with the Carolina Pirates. I always wonder where this kid would show up. Great bat with speed.
