HiToms fall to RedWolves 6-4 On Scout Night with Borland on the Bench

The HiToms and RedWolves came into the game today both undefeated in league play. The RedWolves were 3-0 and the HiToms were 2-0.

Austin Chastang started for the HiToms and went 4 innings into the game. He gave up 3ER off of a few infield singles in the 2nd and a solo shot off the bat of Joey Polack in the fourth.

In the home half of the 4th inning, the HiToms bats came alive as Evan Edwards hit a 2 run HR to bring in Kip Brandenberg who reached on a fielders choice. Kole McKinnon hit a solo shot just a few at bats later to tie the game at 3.

Nick Silber and John Hurayt made their HiTom debuts from the bullpen and pitched the 5th, 6th and 7th innings for the HiToms. Silber pitched a 1-2-3 5th. Hurayt pitched well in the losing effort giving up a 2 out 2 RBI single.

Matt Stanley pitched the 8th and 9th inning, and after giving up a leadoff home run to Joey Polak for his 2nd of the night to lead off the 8th, he struck out the next 4 batters and retired the last two via a pop out and groundout.

The winning pitcher was Garrett Wilson (1-0) and the losing pitcher was John Hurayt III (0-1). The RedWolves stay undefeated in conference play at 4-0 and the HiToms lose their first game of the season and fall to 2-1 in league play.

The HiToms travel to Asheboro to face the Copperheads at who lost to the HiToms last Wednesday.
