First National Bank Field to Host Thirsty Thursday Doubleheader
Grasshoppers vs. Suns First Pitch at 5:00 PM
(Greensboro, NC) The Greensboro Grasshoppers will host a Natty Greene’s Thirsty Thursday Doubleheader at First National Bank Field, with the first game starting at 5:00 PM. The two teams had to cancel Tuesday night’s regularly scheduled game and move today’s game to Burlington Athletic Field, due to adverse field conditions.
Carolina Green Corp, the company that initially built the field in 2004, will come in today and replace the existing sod with Game on Grass™, an innovative and time-tested Bermuda grass surface. The product weighs 17 pounds per square foot and can be played upon immediately. This product is used in numerous major college athletic fields, as well as by 6 NFL teams. It was created specifically for its instantaneous playability and durability.
“We look forward to a great Thirsty Thursday crowd and are excited to play on a brand new surface. I have spoken with Marc (Del Piano, the Miami Marlins Director of Player Development) and he appreciates our quick action to get the infield ready after the previous sod did not take in time,” said Grasshoppers President and General Manager Donald Moore. “We regret that the weather conditions over the last month required the re-sodding project and are resolving this issue as quickly as we can,” Moore continued.
The Hornets are Back! Thursday, June 8 will be a a Throwback Thursday DOUBLEHEADER! The Hoppers will wear replica Greensboro Hornets jerseys, which will be on sale in the Majestic Yard souvenir store beginning Friday, June 9.
Wednesday’s game between the Grasshoppers and Hagerstown Suns begins at 7:00 PM at Burlington Athletic Field. Fans can use their Tuesday night or Wednesday night ticket for this game or redeem it for any future 2017 home game.
