It won’t be too much longer and we will know who the new head football coach at Page High School is going to be…
Look for some sort of announcement this weekend or early next week, say around Monday and that is when it should hit….
Page is down to what I am hearing through the grapevine to their three final candidates and they are very close to making the final call…
That call will come from Page athletic director Rusty Lee and we have placed calls into Rusty, but he has been very busy going through with this interview and hiring process, and has not had time to return our calls…
You may see a current Guilford County coach end up over at Page and you may see a coach from outside our area become the new coach at Page….
Any of the candidates that are hired will know this Guilford County territory and area well….They will all have coached here currently, or in the past….
Quite a bit of time has passed since Coach Gillespie stepped down to take the job at Asheboro, at least a lot of time as far football time goes, in a very short off-season and the time is just about upon us, for the announcement of the new Page football coach…
This is just an update and in no way meant to be a hinderance that would interfere with the Page hiring process…
We have received quite a few E-mails/phone calls in the past few days wanting to know, “What is up with the Page football job?”, and all we are doing here is trying to give you an update of “what is going on”…..
Good chance we may not be the ones to break it when it comes out, but you can rest assured we will be the main ones talking about it when it happens…
We have received phone calls in recent weeks from AD’s that are hiring new coaches, just checking in here to get some input about the new coaches they are considering and our football playing days I think began here back in 1970 and we have been on this scene for a long time and our next game is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day 2017, so football is for sure one of our key games….

Heard through the vine there were more meetings and discussions today and sometimes #2 may become #1 and #3 still might get a shot…There are some chips on the table and prospects will want to come in with the best hand they can get…
I commend the football players at Page for remaining at ease despite this coaching situation. They are focused. Hopefully the coach who arrives does not change much. The team has the ability to return to the state championship. I truly have that level of optimism.
