Wong leads after third round

3-under-par 67 puts him in position heading to final round

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Shuai Ming (Ben) Wong of (Hong Kong) The Woodlands, Texas, leads the Haas Family Invitational presented by BB&T heading into the final round. He carded five birdies in the third round for a score of 3-under-par 67 and three-day tournament total of 7-under-par 203.

Wong has been in this position before, The Southern Methodist University verbal commit started the year off strong with second-place finishes at the CB&I / Simplify Boys Championship at Carlton Woods and the Bishops Gate Academy Junior at Horseshoe Bay.

Wong talked about heading into the final round as the leader, “I was in this position in February for the CB&I, and I learned a lot from that. Hopefully I can just play my game tomorrow and come out with a win.”

Wong is currently No. 11 on the AJGA Rankings and is looking for his first AJGA and Invitational win.

Jacob Bridgeman of Inman, South Carolina, carded six birdies for a third-round score 4-under-par 66. He moved up six spots on the leaderboard from T9 to T3 with a three-day total of 5-under-par 205. This is the University of Clemson verbal commit’s first AJGA event.

North Carolina Player Update

Akshay Bhatia of Wake Forest, North Carolina, carded an even-par 70 in the third round to move up two spots to No. 13. Ryan Gerard of Raleigh, North Carolina, scored a 2-under-par 68 and sits at T14.

The final round tee times will be from 7:45 – 9:15 a.m. on June 16, off Nos. 1 & 10 tees at Sedgefield Country Club.
