Father’s Day is always a special day, and when you can be at the ballpark it’s that much better.
The HiToms came into their Sunday game on a 2 game losing streak after losing to the same Mustangs on Friday then in a non league matchup yesterday to the 19-2 Kernersville Bulldogs.

Tyler Wesley started on the mound for the HiToms and pitched well. in 3.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 1ER in the first inning, 3BB, and struck out 5.

The bats came alive at the beginning of the game, where after a single and two walks, Mason McClellan hit a no doubter over the Finch Field scoreboard in left center to give the HiToms the early 4-1 lead. Callahan Moltzan added on to the beating when he hit a solo shot in the same direction as McClellan.

In the 3rd, the HiToms scored once more when after Ryne Stanley walked, a few errors led to him scoring and the HiToms led 5-1 after 3.

In the 4th, the Mustangs scored twice, after back to back hits and a strikeout, Matt Stanley came into pitch. He walked 2 but struck out 1, and Clay Yong finsihed the inning.

The HiToms scored again in the 6th, after Ike Freeman hit an RBI triple to right field that drove in Jordan Howard to widen the HiTom lead to 5, 8-3.

The 8th inning was a tough one for the HiToms, as Austin Chastang entered the game, he gave up a walk, a double and a single before giving way to Jason Goe.

The first batter Goe faced hit a 3 run home run that dwindled the HiTom lead to just 1.

Goe came back out for the 9th inning, where he closed the door 1-2-3 with a strikeout, groundout, and flyout. The HiToms move to 9-6 in league play, while the Mustangs drop to .500 at 7-7.

The winning pitcher was Matt Stanley (2-1) and Troy Beckner got the loss he drops to (0-1) Jason Goe earned the SV (1)

  1. Haven’t seen a score from the Saturday against Kernersville? Was it rained out?
