DAVIDSON, N.C. – Guilford College men’s golf coach Justin Tereshko won the 57th North Carolina Amateur Championship Sunday at the River Run Country Club. The Quakers’ fourth-year mentor entered the Sunday’s fourth and final round with a three-stroke lead over Lansdon Robbins and maintained the margin with a one-over 73 Sunday.

Tereshko shot 72-70-68-73-283 (-5) to outdistance the 152-man field. Former University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill golfer Kevin O’Connell shot 71 Sunday to finish among three played tied for second place at 286. Robbins, who will play for UNC Wilmington starting next fall, and recent UNC Greensboro graduate Jake McGlone joined McConnell three strokes behind Tereshko.

Guilford rising sophomore Kell Graham (Matthews, N.C./Charlotte Christian Day) fired his third 73 of the tournament Sunday to share 16th place in the tournament at 295. Former Quakers’ All-American Steve Harwell ’85 shared 32nd place at 303.

Tereshko, a 2012 Transylvania University graduate, birdied the second and third holes Sunday to drop to eight-under for the tournament, but gave the strokes back with bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes. He made the turn even for the day, but a bogey on 11 moved him to one over. Robbins was within two strokes of Tereshko for much of the back nine. Both players made bogeys on the par-three 17th hole before Tereshko clinched the victory with his fourth birdie of the tournament on the par-five 18th hole.
