NORMAN, Okla. – Guilford College golfer Josh Hill (Superior, Colo./Monarch) earned NCAA Division III PING All-America honorable mention recognition Wednesday. The Quakers’ sophomore received the recognition by virtue of his 12th-place finish at the Division III Championships May 16-19 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Hill led Guilford to a second-place finish at the Championships with a four-day score of 71-72-77-74-294 on the par-72 courses at the Mission Inn Resort and Club. His play in the 215-man, 42-team tournament lowered his season stroke average to 74.81, tops in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Ranked 43rd in the final Division III Head-to-Head Rankings, he competed in a team-high 26 rounds and notched the 28th-lowest season stroke average in school history.

A First Team All-ODAC selection, Hill led Guilford with seven rounds of par or better and had four top-12 results in 10 events. He edged teammate Kell Graham in a one-hole playoff to win medalist honors at the ODAC Championships April 25, his first college medalist honor. Hill took seventh in a one-round match with Hope College and Luther College with a round of 76. He placed eighth at the season-opening Transylvania Fall Invitational September 3-4 with a team-best 75-75-71-221 on the par-72 course.

Hill helped the Quakers to their third national runner-up finish and their league-record 16th ODAC title this season. Coach Justin Tereshko’s team was ranked 12th in the final NCAA Division III Relative Rankings and 17th in the final 2016-17 Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches’ Poll. The Quakers return five letter winners in the fall, including Hill.
