Kernersville Bulldogs Weekend Baseball Update:Bulldogs now (24-6) after weekend work, with several locals leading the way

Kernersville battled for fifteen innings in Lenoir Friday night before prevailing 6-5 over the Oilers in a CVCL game.

Jeremiah Triplett and Noah Carter combined for eight and two third innings of three hits relief fanning ten with Carter getting his first win of the season for the Bulldogs. WSSU”s Brandon Ford had three hits on the night and drove in three runs, Tyler Price(GTCC) and Dylan Wilkinson were both 2-5 for and rbis for Kernersville.

On Saturday afternoon the Fuquay Varina Twins used a big fourth inning scoring three unearned runs and then limited Kernersville to three hits in a 5-1 Twin win. Mathew Hailey(East Forsyth) and Seth Hardin(Appalachian) threw well in the loss. Jacob Whitley, Jeff Somuk and Michael Garvey collected the hits.

In Game two Chris Kernen and Tanner Routh of GTCC hurled five inning of outstanding baseball allowing three hits, but the rains started and the 6-0 Bulldog lead dwindled as the slippery ball led to control issues but the Bulldogs prevailed 6-3. Colin Lipke also from GTCC was 2-2 and 4 rbis to pace the win.

On Sunday afternoon Kernersville would have to go the extra inning route to get the win. Twelve innings would be required before Colin Lipke would crush a walkoff homer for a 4-2 win. Braxton Shetley, UNCG’s Jake Mayhew and Andrew Blake would combine for twelve strikeouts with Blake picking up the win in his two innings of shutout baseball. Mayhew had five shutout innings as well. Noah Campbell the 19th round selection of this past MLB draft of the Milwaukee Brewers continued his fine play with a 2-3 game with a double and run scored.

In game two Kernersville would use the play of Campbell and Timmy Fischvogt with a 3-4 day including a double and three rbis to jump out to a quick 5-0 lead and Bulldog Starter Will Hicks(GTCC) would combine with Seth Hardin to fan 10 and allow only 3 hits in the 10-3 win. The win pushed the Bulldogs to 24-6 on the Summer!

They play home CVCL games Tuesday and Wednesday Night at 7PM at their Glenn High School field.
