Fishler Named Elon Women’s Basketball Director of Operations

ELON, N.C. – Elon University head women’s basketball coach Charlotte Smith announced Wednesday morning, June 28, the addition of Stephen Fishler as the program’s new Director of Operations.

“We are thrilled to have Stephen as our new director of operations,” Smith said. “He joins us from Penn State under the leadership of the well-respected Coquese Washington and comes with a wealth of knowledge that will enhance and elevate our program. Stephen will be able to assist our program in every facet with his extensive knowledge and we are fortunate to have him with our program.”

With the team, Fishler will oversee daily operations, including team travel coordination, practice and gameday management and the ordering and distribution of team equipment, among other responsibilities. He will also serve as a liaison between the team and Elon faculty and staff.

Fishler joins the Phoenix after spending the last five seasons with the Penn State women’s basketball program as both the team’s head video manager from 2012-16 and a graduate assistant in 2016-17. While with the program, Fishler was responsible for breaking down opponent game film, filming both home and away contests and all practices and creating film session videos, among other responsibilities assigned. He also spent three summers assisting with Penn State’s basketball camps.

In his time at Penn State, Fishler also worked with the PSU Athletics Event Management staff all five years in State College, Pa. He also worked in the Morgan Academic Support Center for Student Athletes (MASCSA), where he helped with marketing efforts and worked closely with academic counselors on scheduling for student-athlete tutoring and study hall.

“I am very excited to be a member of the Elon University family,” Fishler said. “Everyone I’ve spoken with speaks very highly of Elon, its academics and the women’s basketball program. Coach Smith is a proven winner and I am honored to have the opportunity to work with and learn from her and the coaching staff here at Elon.”

Fishler earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Penn State in 2016 and completed his master’s of education in Curriculum and Instruction, also at Penn State, in 2017.
