Elon Announces 2017 Football Radio Crew

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University Department of Athletics announced its football radio crew for the 2017 season on Friday, June 30. Voice of the Phoenix Taylor Durham ’96 will assume play-by-play duties for the maroon and gold in 2017, while Matt Krause ’16 returns to his alma mater as the color analyst for Phoenix football.

“Taylor is a true professional and we’re thrilled to have him move into the play-by-play role this upcoming season,” said Director of Athletics Dave Blank. “Additionally, we couldn’t be more excited to add Matt Krause to the mix on our football broadcasts. Matt is hard working, talented and has a bright future in the broadcast industry. Having two alumni in our radio booth with many years of exposure and insight to the university and our athletic programs is invaluable to our fans.”

Durham has been calling Elon games for the previous eight seasons and has filled in as the football play-by-play voice on multiple occasions for David Hibbard ’89, who steps away from the radio booth for a new position at UNC Pembroke. Durham will continue his duties on men’s basketball radio broadcasts this upcoming season on WSML 104.5 FM and 1200 AM as well.

Krause has previously served Elon Athletics as the play-by-play voice for women’s basketball on Phoenix All-Access and called baseball and basketball games on WSOE, Elon’s student radio station. Krause currently serves as the radio voice of the Burlington Royals minor league baseball team and will continue to serve in play-by-play duties on men’s basketball broadcasts on Phoenix All-Access.

The duo’s first game in the booth will on Thursday, Aug. 31, when the Phoenix travels to take on the Toledo Rockets. All of Elon’s games can be heard on WSML 104.5 FM and 1200 AM as well as at elonphoenix.com.

Season tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased online at elonphoenix.com or by calling 336-278-6750.
