ELON, N.C. – Elon University football head coach Curt Cignetti today announced the addition of Clay Browning to the Phoenix football staff. Browning will serve as Elon’s tight ends coach after spending the last four seasons in player development and quality control at the University of North Carolina.
Browning, a 2012 UNC graduate, spent time as a student assistant coach with the Tar Heels from 2009-11 and worked with offensive coordinator John Shoop. After one season as an operations assistant at Purdue University, Browning returned to North Carolina.
Browning holds a bachelor’s degree in history.
In a corresponding move, current wide receivers coach Mike Shanahan has added the role of recruiting coordinator to his duties with the Phoenix.
