Stenson represented the European team in the Ryder Cup four times including 2016 and claimed the silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. He and gold medal winner Justin Rose reached the 72nd hole tied for the lead at 15 under par. Rose birdied and won the gold while Stenson bogeyed and took silver.
