FedExCup No. 16 Kyle Stanley & No. 19 Charles Howell III, Five Major Winners Join Field

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two top-20 golfers in the FedExCup point standings, Kyle Stanley and Charles Howell III, as well as major winners Padraig Harrington, Keegan Bradley, Lucas Glover, Stewart Cink and Retief Goosen will all play next week’s Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 78th annual Wyndham Championship begins Monday at Sedgefield Country Club.

These players join world No. 8 Henrik Stenson, World Golf Hall of Famer Ernie Els, 2018 United States Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk, Andrew “Beef” Johnston, three-time Wyndham winner Davis Love III, 2011 Wyndham winner Webb Simpson, defending champion Si Woo Kim, former FedExCup champions Bill Haas and Billy Horschel, former world No. 1 Luke Donald and Major championship winners Jason Dufner, Graeme McDowell and Stewart Cink in the field.

Stanley is a Clemson University alumnus with two PGA TOUR wins to his credit including this year’s Quicken Loans National. He finished tied for fourth at the PLAYERS Championship and tied for sixth at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide earlier this year. He posted four rounds in the 60s and finished tied for 14th at last year’s Wyndham Championship and will make his sixth appearance here next week. Stanley is 16th in the current FedExCup point standings and 59th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He represented the United States in the Walker Cup in 2007 and graduated from the Web.com Tour in 2015.

Howell is 19th in the current FedExCup point standings and 58th in the Official World Golf Rankings. His best finishes of the season to date are second place at the Quicken Loans National, tied for second at the Farmers Insurance Open and tied for seventh at the OHL Mayakoba Classic; he has two PGA TOUR victories. The Augusta, Ga., native will make his ninth Wyndham Championship start next week; his best finish here came in 2011 when he finished tied for fourth. He represented the United States in the Presidents Cup in 2003 and ’07.

Harrington is a three-time Major winner taking the Open Championship twice and the PGA Championship once. He is a six-time PGA TOUR winner with 18 international wins to his credit; his most recent win was last year’s European Tour Portugal Masters. The Irish star has played in the Ryder Cup six times, the World Cup 11 times, the Dunhill Cup five times, the Seve Trophy four times and the Summer Olympic games last year. He made three previous Wyndham Championship appearances with his best finish coming in 2011 when he finished tied for 47th. With just nine PGA TOUR starts this season, he is 199th in the FedExCup point standings and 146th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Bradley won the PGA Championship in 2011 among his three PGA TOUR victories. He finished tied for fourth at the Farmers Insurance Open, tied for fifth at the Quicken Loans National, sixth at the CIMB Classic, tied for seventh at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and tied for eighth at the Travelers Championship for his best finishes of the season. He is a two-time Ryder Cup player and has represented the United States in the Presidents Cup once. He makes his second Wyndham Championship start next week; he finished tied for 46th last year. Bradley is 41st in FedExCup points and 99th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Glover, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, will make his 14h consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance. The Clemson University alumnus finished seventh in 2010 and tied for sixth in 2006 for his best two finishes here; he finished tied for 22nd last year. Glover finished third at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, tied for fifth at the Sanderson Farms Championship, tied for sixth at the PLAYERS Championship and tied for seventh at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard for his best finishes of the season. He is 56th in the current FedExCup point standings and 104th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He represented the United States in the President’s Cup in 2007 and ’09 and the Walker Cup in 2001.

Cink, the 2009 Open Championship winner, is making his eighth Wyndham Championship start; he tied for 14th here last year. The Georgia Tech alumnus has six PGA TOUR wins, two international victories and three Web.com Tour wins. He finished tied for 10th at The RSM Classic, the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational and the FedEx St. Jude’s Classic for his best finishes of the season. He is 70th in the current FedExCup point standings and 172nd in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Goosen won the U.S. Open Championship in 2001 and ’04; he will make his fifth appearance at the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event where he finished 17th in 2011 – his best finish here. He finished tied for second at the Puerto Rico Open, tied for 12th at the Barbasol Championship and tied for 14th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans earlier this season. A native of South Africa, Goosen is a seven-time PGA TOUR winner with 24 international victories to his credit. He played for the International Team in the presidents Cup six times, played in the World Cup five times and the Dunhill Cup six times. With just 18 PGA TOUR starts this season, he is 161st in the current FedExCup point standings and 270th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
