College Women’s Soccer News – Guilford Ranked 10th in Preseason ODAC Poll

FOREST, Va. – Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women’s soccer coaches picked Guilford College 10th in the league’s annual preseason poll announced Friday. The Quakers collected 50 points in the 13-team rankings.

Defending league champion Washington and Lee University earned seven first-place votes and shared the poll’s top spot with Lynchburg College, which had six top nods. Both teams earned 138 points in the ratings, 18 points in front of third-place Virginia Wesleyan University. Bridgewater College (105 points) and Shenandoah University (103 points) rounded out the top-five teams.

Guilford begins a new women’s soccer era this season as Stephanie Webb patrols the Quakers’ sidelines for the first time. The rookie head coach took over the team in May and inherits nine starters among 14 letter winners from last fall’s 6-9-1 team that reached the ODAC Tournament. Junior Juliana Evans-Anfom is back after topping Guilford a year ago with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. She earned Third Team All-ODAC recognition and placed fifth among the league’s points per game leaders (1.31). Susan Dillinger, Dana Waskiewicz, Lauren Culler and Kelsey Reilly are also back after each netting three goals apiece. Junior Cheyenne Grim posted a .705 saves percentage and 2.05 goals against average in 12 starts in goal last fall.

The Quakers open the season September 3 versus visiting William Peace University at 1:00 p.m. Guilford’s first conference game is 20 days later at Shenandoah. The ODAC Tournament begins November 1 for the top-nine finishers in the regular season.
