Friday Night Finish with a few upsets and Northwest Guilford at Smith pushed back to Monday

Lots of delays tonight, and one game pushed back to Monday(NWG at Smith), but even with the delays, most teams got to play and finish their first football games of the 2017 season….

We got back home late from downtown, 2-hour rain delay and Greensboro Grasshoppers defeat the Hickory Crawdads 11-0 and once we began to look over these scores, you the eyebrows began to raise and time to heap some praise on teams that had good days/nights….

Northern Guilford over Grimsley, 16-15 looks like one of the early big upsets of the night….NG with the backup QB Jakob Lenard and doing it on the road at Grimsley….NG on the road again next week, with the Nighthawks at Page….Page makes Coach Jared Rolfes first game as the Pirates’ head coach a memorable one with a win in PT at Davie County for Page, and they get to the tune of 20-14 and the win comes in OT….

Dudley blows away WS Carver 49-0 and Eastern Guilford was nearly as strong, with the Wildcats whipping Northeast Guilford, 44-0 and I am bit shocked at that outcome…..Southwest Guilford could have used those 3 suspended players, as the Cowboys fall 15-12 to WS Reynolds….This is where it is on the players, the coach did what he had to do…..Learning experience, the hard way…..

Southeast Guilford shows us they can be for real, sending High Point Andrews reeling, 27-0 at the Simeon Stadium, in High Point…Western Guilford competes, but the WG Hornets still taste defeat, falling at home in Doug Henderson Stadium, 26-19, to Morehead….

We picked High Point Central to win and they did, 22-21 over WS Parkland….A great opening-night win for the Ragsdale Tigers and new head coach Johnny Boykin, as his Tigers took down the Southern Guilford Storm, 20-6….Got to be thinking 1-2 TD’s for Malachi Manness and some offense on the go, for RHS QB Devan Boykin….

On the private school front, High Point Christian Academy moves past Fayetteville Christian 23-7….Who is the new HPCA QB???

The crowd on Monday for the Northwest Guilford at Smith game should be huge, with every other team in town/in the county able to come watch this Monday Night High School Football Game at the Claude Manzi Stadium, on the Ben L. Smith High School campus……

We will get some key names and numbers up here on the High School Football Saturday Morning Rewind…….

Who was the top player of the night?

Which of our teams pulled off the biggest win of the night?

What will be the top game coming up next week?

Where did everybody go when their Friday night game was complete and what about the Smith and NWG players, what game did they take off to?

What game did you go see and do you have any information for us your “Game of the Night”?????

  1. The older Homol brother was Josh, is that right???

The crowd for Northwest Guilford at Smith could be very large on Monday night….The only game in town and every team, coach and player can use this as so-called Free Scouting Night, although you will have to pay to get in….

Thanks for the Homol info…Were they in Florida, moved back and didn’t Josh drop football, but got back into football and finished up at HPCA, backing up DeShaun Taylor???

Thanks again for the info and that sort of helps to know where we are going and where we are coming from….
