Eastern Guilford on the scoreboard again with 2:13 left in the 2n Quarter on a 17-yard Field Goal from the Wildcats’ Colin Smith….
Eastern Guilford 10, Grimsley 0

After a Grimsley fumble at their own three-yard line, Eastern Guilford takes the football in from two yards out on a run by EG RB Darrell Roberts….The Colin Smith kick was good again…2:01 to go in the First Half at this stage of the game and your score….
Eastern Guilford 17, Grimsley 0

The EG defense is in the takeaway and convert mode as Justin Spruill scores for the Wildcats on a 14-yard fumble return and again, the Colin Smith kick is good and now with just 1:31 left in the First Half, you score is now….
Eastern Guilford 24, Grimsley 0

Eastern Guilford scores 17 points in about a span of 42 seconds and the EG Wildcats hit Halftime, leading Grimsley, 24-0…..
Halftime:Eastern Guilford 24, Grimsley 0

In the 4th Quarter, Darrell Roberts scores again for Eastern Guilford on a three-yard run and with 11:11 left to play in the football game, your score is…
Eastern Guilford 31, Grimsley 0

Grimsley QB Chris Zellous got the Whirlies on the board late in the game on a 5-yard touchdown run and that TD run by Zellous came with just 3:35 remaining in the contest and the kick by the Whirlies’ Faulkner was good at that point of our ball game, the score read….
Eastern Guilford 31, Grimsley 7….

And that was our Final Score from Jamieson Stadium:
Eastern Guilford 31, Grimsley 7

Very well-managed game by Eastern Guilford’s Dominique Graves at quarterback and the Wildcats’ QB has a wide range of receivers to throw to in Nic Cheeley, Zach Milton, Justin Matthews and Adam Aikens….Good spots for short drop-passes in open field and then turn on the run-and-catch….Good solid steady night of running for Wildcat back Darrell Roberts and the Wildcats’ RB got his share of yards and so did QB D. Graves and Graves had very good all-around night for EG….Roberts the #2 RB coming in and the #1 RB coming out with EG’s top RB, Christian McMullen, out with injury…..
(No more Finertys to be found for Eastern, they need to find another Finerty somewhere.)

Dennis Brooks(fumble recovery/numerous tackles) led the EG Defense from his linebacker spot and Cheeley was tough back on the back line of defense at his DB position, and Coach Doug Robertson, from Eastern Guilford, said they will get the top players/athletes on the field and that means the kids that will give the best chance to win football games…

EG has huge weapon in kicker Colin Smith….He hit one-of-two Field Goals, made all of his PAT kicks and sent nearly every one of his kickoffs into the end zone, for a Touchback…..Colin Smith, a junior, may be the heir apparent to Thomas Murray from Page and Cody Creed from Northwest Guilford, in our Guilford County kids kicking department….Murray and Creed are both seniors…..Smith had one punt tonight, that traveled 63 yards and he did get a good bounce on that one, but his kicking game gets an ‘A’ mark tonight and he would have received an ‘A-+’, but he did miss on one Field Goal attempt….

Eastern Guilford has two huge tackles on the offensive line and the young men must weigh least 350 pounds each and those two kids are load, that id for sure…

Grimsley had lots of trouble with their snaps tonight and that one big problem the Whirlies must get worked out, before they face/host Southeast Guilford on Friday night….Grimsley went with three different QB’s tonight and Chris Zellous(sophomore) may be ready to give them the best chance to win for the future….

The Whirlies opened with Jaylen Smith at QB and his favorite target was Chris Wiggins and Wiggins is a very strong target for Grimsley….Rob Dalton also came up with some big catches early in the game for Grimsley….

Born Lesane continues to be the top RB for Grimsley and the Whirlies were missing DB/WR/KR man Nile Harris tonight, who was out with a bad ankle and he hopes to be ready to return for the Whirlies game with SEG at Jamieson Stadium, on Friday night….Lance McMillan was hanging tough for Grimsley back at his DB spot and he also picked up the Whirlies’ slack on KR’s, but it just isn’t the same for Grimsley, without McMillan and Harris back there in the secondary together….

Eastern Guilford(3-0) will be hosting Page(2-1) on Friday night and that ought to be a great high school football game……At Tommy Grayson Stadium….
Southeast Guilford(3-0) at Grimsley(1-2) on Friday night, in Jamieson Stadium….
+++++Short week of practice for EG and Grimsley and preparation for Page and Grimsley, begins at Midnight tonight, for the Wildcats and the Whirlies…..+++++

Great night to be watching a high school football game in Guilford County and will have video from this game, up here on the site, tomorrow/Tuesday morning…..

*****More on the way….*****

  1. Went to the game to see a much improved Grimsley team. However there were alot of problems on the offensive side of the ball. The offensive line did well.. but lacked a strong running game in the backfield. Throughout the night there many holes to run through. Special teams let them down by not even fair catching balls and letting them roll to the 5 yard line. Bad field possessions. Lots of fumbles (Ball security). The have alot of work to do with southeast up next on the calendar.
