Guilford’s Miller Named ODAC Football Offensive Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College senior Karsten Miller (Thomasville, N.C./North Davidson) captured the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) first Offensive Football Player of the Week Award Sunday.

Karsten Miller - Guilford 2017

Miller, a 6-3, 240-pound quarterback, threw for 353 yards and four touchdowns in Guilford’s 38-24 season-opening victory at Huntingdon College September 2. He averaged over 22 yards per completion and distributed 16 passes to eight different receivers. Miller threw his first touchdown pass to his younger brother, Khylil, in the first quarter to open the game’s scoring. Karsten connected with Tyriek Russell on touchdowns from 30 and 50 yards out, and also had a hand in the longest scoring pass in Guilford’s NCAA Division III history, a 97-yard catch and run by Montek Johnson. Miller also picked up 23 rushing yards on eight carries.

Miller, who joined the Quakers a year ago from Northwest Mississippi Community College, moved into eighth place among Guilford’s career completions leader (205). Saturday’s contest marked his third career contest with 300 or more passing yards. He also stands ninth in career passing yards (2,601) and seventh with 20 touchdown passes.

Coach Chris Rusiewicz’s Quakers (1-0) visit Methodist University Saturday (9/9) in a nonconference game at 1:00 p.m. in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
