College Women’s Soccer Final – Catholic 3, Guilford 0

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Meghan Corso tallied the eventual game-winner just prior to halftime as Catholic University defeated Guilford College, 3-0, on Saturday evening in the second game of the D.C. Classic.

Following the match, both teams have a 2-1 record.

Catholic got on the board in the 44th minute when Corso scored off an assist from Elizabeth Johnson. Johnson’s cross was deflected by Quaker goalkeeper Morgan Malikowski, but Corso was immediately able to shoot it in for the goal.

The score remained 1-0 at halftime.

The Cardinals pushed the margin to 2-0 in the 64th minute. Krista Boretti tallied off a one-touch pass from 15 yards out for the goal. Maggie Moorcones earned the assist on the play.

Catholic recorded the game’s final goal in the 89th minute when Michelle Silviera scored off a helper from Sarah Bush.

Malikowski collected five saves for Guilford and allowed one goal in the first half. Cheyenne Grim played the final 45 minutes. She allowed two goals and also made five saves.

Catholic had the edge in shots (24-2) and corner kicks (6-1).

Gabriela Silva and Katie Kaznowski both fired a shot for GC.

Guilford closes play in the DC Classic Sunday (9/10) when the Quakers face Penn State-Harrisburg at 3 p.m.
