Elon Softball Announces 2017 Fall Schedule

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University softball team and head coach Kathy Bocock announced the Phoenix’s 2017 fall schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The slate consists of eight games beginning on Oct. 1 with a twin bill versus Atlantic Coast Conference programs Duke and North Carolina at Hunt Softball Park.

2017 Fall Schedule

“I’m very pleased to be kicking off our fall season soon,” said Bocock. “I think we have put together a very competitive schedule against some high-quality programs here locally. I am especially excited to have our players facing live in-game situations against some great teams this fall as that experience will get us better prepared for the spring.”

Elon hosts Duke for its first game of the fall season on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. followed by a matchup with the Tar Heels later that day at 3 p.m. A week later, the Phoenix welcomes East Carolina to Hunt Softball Park for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

On Oct. 13, the Phoenix and the Tar Heels square off again in Chapel Hill, N.C., at 4:45 p.m. Elon then faces Duke in a rematch on Oct. 21 in Durham, N.C., with the game time slated for 5 p.m.

The Phoenix wraps up fall ball with an Oct. 27 home twin bill matchup against NC State. That doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Elon is coming off a 32-21 campaign a season ago, its highest winning percentage in a single-season (.604) since 2010. It was also third straight winning season for the Phoenix, the first for the program at the Division I level. The maroon and gold returns 14 players from last year’s team including seniors Kiandra Mitchum and Kara Shutt, who both earned Colonial Athletic Association first team postseason honors.
