College Women’s Soccer Final: Shenandoah 8, Guilford 2

WINCHESTER, Va. – Rebecca Collimore had one goal and three assists–and Liz Keefer scored three times–as Shenandoah University defeated visiting Guilford College, 8-2, on Saturday.

The match was the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams. The Quakers fell to 3-4 and 0-1. The Hornets improved to 5-3, 1-0.

SU’s Lauren Johnson opened the game’s scoring at the 13:16 mark off an assist from Collimore. Collimore tallied an unassisted goal 42 seconds later. The Hornets scored four more times before Guilford tallied.

Morgan Henderson ended the Guilford offensive drought at the 44:52 mark. The score was 6-1 at halftime.

Becca Banks garnered seven saves for the Quakers in the first half. Morgan Malikowski played the final 45 minutes for GC. She stopped six shots and allowed two goals.

Susan Dillinger netted the Quakers’ goal. Her unassisted goal occurred in the 69th minute.

SU held the edge in shots (27-4) and corner kicks (11-1).

Emily Yergin contributed two goals for Shenandoah.

Guilford returns to action on Wednesday (9/27) at ODAC rival Roanoke College.
