HPU’s Heinst Named Big South Runner of the Week for Third Time

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University women’s cross country freshman Famke Heinst has been named the Big South Women’s Runner of the Week for the second- consecutive week and third time this season, the conference announced Wednesday (Sept. 27).

Heinst placed sixth at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational in Earylsville, Va., and led the Panthers to a fifth-place finish amongst a strong 11-team field. Heinst led the Panthers across the line for the third-consecutive meet in a 5K time of 17:43.6. The team finish vaulted HPU into the regional rankings for the first time since 2012.

It is the third weekly conference award of her career.

The Panthers return to action Oct. 13 when they host the VertCross Invitational in Kernersville.
