Elon’s Brennan Named CAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

ELON, N.C. – Senior Brigid Brennan of the Elon University women’s cross country team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 3.

Brennan secured her first career league weekly honor after leading the Phoenix at the Paul Short Run last Friday, Sept. 29. The Northport, N.Y., native set a new personal-best in the women’s 6K “gold” run with a time of 20:53. That performance was over a minute better than her previous personal-record and the second-fastest time in school history. She would finish the race 56th out of 368 competitors.

The cross country programs will next compete on the weekend of Oct. 13-14 with a group traveling to the High Point VertCross meet next Friday, Oct. 13. The following day, Oct. 14, another group will travel to the NCAA Pre-National meet in Louisville, Ky.
