Guilford College Women’s Cross Country Places Fourth at Hagan Stone Classic

PLEASANT GARDEN, N.C. – The Guilford College women’s cross country team placed fourth at the Hagan Stone Classic. The Quakers tallied 74 points in the five-team meet.

Guilford’s Sommer Fanney led the Quakers with a time of 20:12.59 in the 5K race. She finished in second place behind Southern Virginia’s Morgan Bingham (19:20.06) Fanney’s time is third fastest time in school history.

Samantha Brown finished in 23:37.22, which was 13th in the 33-woman field. Samantha Brooks was 17th (24:40.58) and Sydney Pocos was 18th (24:46.68).

Northern Virginia Community College won the event with 26 points.

The Quakers return to action on Oct. 28 at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.
