FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Greensboro College men’s golf team holds a two-stroke lead at the Royal Lakes/ Oglethorpe Fall Invitational following 27-holes.

The 36-hole event was scheduled for 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday, but due to the forecasted weather for the Flowery Branch area Sunday the teams played 27 holes on Saturday.

Grant Powell currently leads the Pride with a 27-hole score of 3-under-par. Powell finished his first 18 holes at 3-under-par, despite recording five birdies, before completing Saturday’s final nine holes at even par.

Luke Grogan is just two strokes behind his Pride teammate in an 11th place tie at 2-under-par, while Scott Campbell and Levi Grogan are tied for 24th at 1-over-par.

Jacob Neal, who struggled over the first 18 holes, currently sits at even par in Round 2, while Austin Coble, who is playing as an individual sits in a tie for 90th at 15-over-par heading into Sunday.

“We had a solid performance by our top four players today,” Head Coach Jim Cantamessa said. “After finishing our first round in second place, were able to start out our second round really well which helped move us into the lead.

“We have a really good chance to pick up our first victory of the season tomorrow if we can keep up our solid play.”

The Pride men will return to the par-72 Royal Lakes Golf Club for the final nine holes of action Sunday. For more information on Greensboro College men’s golf, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
