GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro College men’s soccer defeated the Tornados of Brevard College on senior day Saturday, 3-1

The Pride struck first in the 19th minute when Jared Heller placed the ball in the upper right corner of the goal off an assist from Darli Mihindou.

The two teams then played to a scoreless draw until the 62nd minute when Gerardo Perazza placed a corner kick to the head of Cole Watkins, who put it in the back of the net for his third goal of the season.

With Greensboro clinging to a two-goal lead, the Tornados cut the Pride’s advantage in half by scoring a goal immediately following the second Pride goal.

However, Greensboro refused to let the Tornado’s lone goal be the last of the contest.

Jordy Briceno tacked on the third and final Pride goal after placing a slotted ball from Jared Heller past the Brevard keeper.

Brevard then began to push numbers forward, but the Pride was able to secure the two-goal victory.

Jaime Payamps recorded the victory in goal for the Pride, while fellow senior Caelan Kohnut recorded one save in 45 minutes of action.

“It was good to get a win at home on Senior Day,” Head Coach Tony Falvino said. “I want to thank all of the seniors for their service to Greensboro College and the men’s soccer program.

“We have to move on quickly from an emotional game today and focus on Piedmont tomorrow.”

The Greensboro College men’s soccer team will return to action at 4 p.m. Sunday when they host the Lions of Piedmont College. For more information on Greensboro College men’s soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
