RICHMOND, Va. – Following his hat trick versus Northeastern last Saturday, sophomore Tuki Tayali of the Elon University men’s soccer team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon, Oct. 16.
Tayali helped the Phoenix earn its first CAA victory of the season with his performance against the Huskies as Elon won with its best offensive output of the season at 4-0. The London, England, native had three goals in the opening stanza and became the second Phoenix player in as many seasons to net a hat trick. Elijah Agu also had one last season versus St. Bonaventure in a 6-0 result.
It is the first career Player of the Wek honor for Tayali. He shared league weekly honors with Eli Dent from College of Charleston.
The Phoenix returns to the pitch to host No. 2 Wake Forest on Tuesday, Oct. 17. That match is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Rudd Field.
