GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men’s basketball team started its 2017-2018 season by lending a hand in the community.

The Pride men traveled Oct. 14 to Florence Elementary School to interact with the students and their families at the school’s Family Fun Day.

The event is a free festival sponsored by the school’s PTA. The festival is an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy games, activities, and fellowship with their friends and family, while also helping those in need.

Each family was asked to bring canned food for admission into the event. The food was donated to the Parkwood Baptist Church food pantry.

“As an alumnus of Greensboro College, it was awesome to have the men’s basketball team be a part of our annual Fall Festival this year,” Florence principal and former Pride athlete Teddy Wohlegemuth said. “I was proud to stand with current Greensboro College student-athletes during the event and teach the young people the power of being a good citizen and the importance of developing strong communities.

“I have received so many positive comments about the team’s presence and how they interacted with our students and parents.”

At the event, the Pride men helped with games such as football, golf, and basketball.

“Saturday afternoon was a great day for our players to give back to the community,” Head Coach Bryan Galuski said. “We all enjoyed making sure all of the elementary kids had a fun day.”
