  1. I thought Southern Guilford plays Eastern next week. That conference is wrapped up at this point.

  2. Southern Guilford vs. Eastern Guilford is still an option for the Mid-State 3-A Conference as long as Southern won tonight…

If SG won, then SG and EG could meet for the Title next Thursday night…

On the Varsity level in the Mid-State 3-A Eastern Guilford has not lost….It could still get crazy, but it would take some doing, but if SG beats Southern Alamance on the Varsity level tomorrow night/Friday and then SG were to beat Eastern Guilford next Friday, I think we would be seeing SEG with one loss in the conference, EG with one loss in the conference, if they were to lose to SG and SG with one loss, to SEG….

Could still get crazy, but right now, EG has the real edge and it is going to take some doing to beat them in the conference and they only have one conference game to go….

Again, to recap, EG and SG could well be meeting for the JV crown next Thursday night, but all goes to the dogs if SG fell in JV’s to Southern Alalmance tonight/Thursday….

And on the other side of town……

  3. Ummmmm, that is incorrect in terms of the JV level. Southeast Guilford only has one conference loss as well, to Eastern Guilford. We beat Southern last week.

  4. SEHT pipe down abit. Your Falcons haven’t done much since 2006. Your program is gonna have to pay its dues and be re-built from the ground up. SE will have its time in the spotlight but for now have several seats!

  5. Steve Nitro, ha haaaaa!! I guess you don’t like facts…….. The facts are that before last nights games Eastern Guilford, Southeast Guilford, and Burlington Williams each had one conference loss. Southern had two before last nights games. We beat Burlington Williams last night so that leaves two teams with one conference loss each. Eastern Guilford and Southeast Guilford. I would be HIGHLY surprised if Southern beats Eastern next week, expecially since Southern’s starting quarterback is out. Additionally Southern lost last night so if Eastern wins next week they own the tie breaker with SE because they won the head-to-head (that is my thinking). If Southern beats Eastern and SE beats SW Randolph Southeast wins the title.

Also, if you think that Southeast is building from the ground up feel free to have that perspective.

  6. Southeast Guilford has Talent ((that is my thinking). Sir you are totally correct. My friend and former fellow coaching comrade KT has done an outstanding job at SE this year. He was a great assistant coach and will become an ever greater head coach. We were sad to see him go but we at EG are all very proud of what he is doing at SEG. we hope he wins all his games except for one.

  7. Did we ever get anything on Southern Guilford from last night and it looks like EG, SG and SEG all still have some work to do and it will come on the field and we have to see who is really where heading into next Thursday night and the very last games of the JV football seasons for our Guilford County schools…

I still think that was a cheap hit on the QB Flacco last night….Sure looked like he was already on the ground when Alonso nailed hit….And it split his ear open too and that comes with a helmet on, I guess unless it was already knocked off when Alonso nailed Flacco in the head…

Coach would probably kick you out of practice if you nailed your own guy like that, with some ‘Friendly Fire’…

  8. Just able to answer my own question….

    Final:Southern Alamance 16, Southern Guilford 8

SG at Eastern Guilford next Thursday night….

EG at (4-1) in the JV Conference standings ought to be about ready to wrap up the JV Conference Title….

With the JV records not totally up to date at MaxPreps you would still think the Title is EG’s for the taking and time for them to go get and make it Mid-State Champs on the Varsity and JV levels…

  9. Andy Durham, MaxPreps is where I saw the score to the Southern/Southern Alamance game as well. Southeast hasn’t been logging their JV games, but we are 7-3 with losses to Southwest (fill-in game), Grimsley, and Eastern. We have quite a few inexperienced players, but it has been good seeing them gain confidence, grow, and come together as a team during the season. We also have a few excellent players on our team as well, but they don’t get much recognition because they play at “Southeast”. No mind, flying under the radar is good sometimes.

Glenn Goss, Coach Tinsley has started to change the culture at Southeast, but believe it or not he had a good base to work with. We already had some good players, but the prior head coach never allowed the players to explore their talent. I also think that we have a really good freshmen class. That being said, there is A LOT of talent in the area and it will be interesting to see how these kids grow as players over the next few years.

  10. That SEG Middle School team coached by Dave Beasley looked pretty strong in their win over SWG back on Wednesday….

SEG has had a strong program for years….Those kids overall have worked very hard in the weight room and deserve any recognition that they are receiving…

  11. SE Middle took an L at Northern. Beasley didn’t look good that game when he got ejected then begged his way back into game

  12. SOUTHEAST HAS TALENT. WHAT DO YOU MEAN COACH TINSLEY HAS STARTED TO CHANGE THE CULTURE AT SEG? THEY HAVE BEEN CONSISTENTLY GOOD FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THEY HAVE FINISHED 2ND OR 3RD BEHIND DUDLEY AND PAGE. DUDLEY BEING THE BAR FOR EVERY OTHER SCHOOL. NOW SOUTHEAST IS PLAYING DOWN, SO BEFORE YOU MAKE REMARKS LIKE THAT DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
IM PROUD OF WHAT COACH TINSLEY IS DOING, BUT HE DIDN’T HAVE TO CHANGE THE CULTURE, IT WAS THERE. WHY DO YOU THINK HE JUMPED AT THE CHANCE TO GO THERE.
THAT REMARK IS A SPIT IN THE FACE OF SOME OF THE GREAT PAST SEG PLAYERS.

  13. Bill Jones, I heard about that. I also heard that there was some questionable officiating which will get anyone a little upset if the calls are going against them……….either way, all coaches are different. Some are a little more vocal than others.

  14. Falcon1, I disagree with you. Sure, Southeast won games, but the previous head coach killed the fire to play football in a lot of those kids. If you are honest with yourself you will admit that. Also, it is KEY that you mention finishing BEHIND Dudley and Page. That WAS expected and accepted. That IS NOT the mindset that you want to have within a winning program. Your team should feel like they have a chance to win EVERY TIME they step on the field. Also, I witnessed with my own eyes how the play calling and strategy would shoot Southeast in the foot time and time again, not to mention how the previous offensive scheme did more to hold players back than allow them to develop. My comment about culture has nothing to do with the players that have played at Southeast in the past. I know a few of them and they had a lot of ablility. You also fail to mention how many players went to other schools to play because of the culture at SE. Dudley didn’t get all of those players because the kids wanted to go to Dudley. They left because they knew that they were looking at a dead end playing at Southeast.

  15. SOUTHEAST HAS TALENT. THEY DIDN’T ALWAYS FINISH BEHIND PAGE. I KNOW THAT THEY BEAT PAGE 2 YRS IN A ROW. AND I KNOW THAT ANY WINNING PROGRAM FEELS LIKE THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN. LIKE I SAID THE CULTURE AND THE TALENT WAS THERE OR COACH TINSLEY WOULDN’T HAVE WANTED TO GO THERE. I DIDN’T SEE HIM JUMPING TO GET TO SOME OF THE OTHER GUILFORD SCHOOLS. SO YOU GO ON BACK TO SMOKING WHATEVER IT IS YOU’RE SMOKING. TINSLEY IS A GOOD COACH AND I THINK HE’S GOING TO DO WELL, BUT HE’S STILL GOING TO BE BEHIND DUDLEY. REMEMBER THEY ARE ALSO PLAYING DOWN

  16. Falcon1, again, I disagree. The culture was not there. The talent was, but not the culture. If you look at the record of the teams under the last coach 7-6 or 6-6 was the norm. There were a couple of spikes where there were double digit wins, but that wasn’t the norm. Also, winning programs don’t measure themselves by if the beat a specific team or not a winning program measures itself by how many state titles it has and how far it goes in the playoffs. Beating “good teams” should be something that is expected because at the highest level of the sport that is what you face, good teams.

Also, feel free to talk about “playing down”, but Southeast still plays most of the teams that they played before except Page and Southwest. Dudley, Smith (who was better than people though), Eastern, Northwest, Grimsley. Sure the conference may not be as strong, but Southeast plays a decent schedule.

  17. Been watching football down at SE for 35 years. You are both right and wrong. Agree to disagree and move on. Best coach down there is Dave Beasley. Maybe someone should pick his brain, just saying!

  18. Y’all don’t know what culture is huh?? My son played under both coaches at SEG an he comes home everyday talking about how Coach Tinsley pushes the kids to be good football players but even better young men in the Community.. Talking about a change them kids really believe they should have beat Dudley my son said this was the first year in 3yrs they felt they could win going into the game.. last year he felt not only the players but coaches was scared of Dudley.. so was the talent there yes, but culture NO these kids talking championship this year. Previous staff only make it to the playoffs an that’s a good year. this staff this year have a different mind set first round exit is unacceptable..
