Elon Football Holds on to Top-10 Ranking

ELON, N.C. – After pulling out a 33-30 win in double overtime to run its winning streak to eight games, the Elon University football team remained in the top 10 of both national polls on Monday, Nov. 6. The Phoenix held steady at #7 in the STATS FCS Poll and moved up one spot to #9 in the FCS Coaches Poll.

Elon (8-1) earned a total of 3,027 points in the STATS rankings and sits between South Dakota State (7-2) and Wofford (8-1).

Including Elon, the STATS poll ranks four CAA Football teams this week. James Madison (9-0) continues to hold the top spot. Other league programs in the rankings are #12 Stony Brook (7-2) and #18 New Hampshire (6-3).

In the coaches poll, the Phoenix was awarded a total of 447 points. Just ahead of Elon is Wofford, while the Phoenix sits just ahead of South Dakota (7-2).

The coaches poll also sees four conference programs ranked. JMU continues to sit first. Stony Brook climbed to #15, while New Hampshire checks in at #16.

Elon will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 11, with a 2 p.m. game at New Hampshire.
