*****For clarification on the Mortarboard, which is also called a ‘square academic cap’:
The square academic cap, graduate cap, cap, mortarboard(because of its similarity in appearance to the mortarboard used by brickmasons to hold mortar or Oxford cap, is an item of academic dress consisting of a horizontal square board fixed upon a skull-cap, with a tassel attached to the centre.*****

+++++Plus coming in today from WRALSportsFan.com:
Rechon/Leaky Black (Concord, N.C.), Nassir Little (Orange Park, Fla.) and Coby White (Goldsboro, N.C.) signed National Letters of Intent today to attend the University of North Carolina and play men’s basketball for the Tar Heels.

“These three young men make my staff and me feel very fortunate and pleased with this class,” says Carolina head coach Roy Williams.+++++

  1. Congrats to the Eagle basketball team. They also have two or three more underclassman that will play college ball. This team should be very very good.

  2. Eagles, we know a couple of the underclassmen at Smith and I’m looking forward to seeing where they end up college wise. From what I hear they have been getting interest since before they played their first high school game.

  3. So much talent at Smith. Does that mean they will finally give (or beat) GDS in the HAECO this year? Schools like Ragsdale, Grimsley, Page and Northern will be okay but not good enough to deal with a GDS. Dudley is too young and Northwest sucks. If Smith can get the #2 seed and beat either Dudley or Northern, then they will have their shot at GDS. I agree Smith has talent but I am not sure that talent is mentality tough enough or physically strong enough to take GDS down. We shall see.
