HIGH POINT, N.C.— The High Point University men’s basketball team opens the 2017-18 season at home against William & Mary. Tip-off at the Millis Center is scheduled for 8 p.m. Live video of the game will be available on SEC Network Plus.

• ?This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. It is HPU’s 14th time playing an SEC opponent (0-13).
• ?The Panthers are coming off of a 100-66 win in the season opener against William & Mary on Nov. 10 at the Millis Center. HPU’s win was the lone Division I win for the Big South on opening night.
• ?The Purple & White shot 60.7 percent (37-61) from the field, which is the eighth-best shooting night in HPU’s Division I history and third-best against a Division I opponent.
• ?With 100 points against the Tribe, the Panthers reached the triple-digit mark for the first time since against UVA-Wise (111-74) on Dec. 13, 2015 and the first time against a Division I opponent in regulation since VMI (109-92) on Feb. 24, 2007.
• ?High Point improved to 67-24 all-time in season openers, 11-8 in the Division I era and 7-2 under head coach Scott Cherry.
• ?Sophomore Jahaad Proctor, making his HPU debut, tallied 28 points, including 6-of-7 from 3-point range, six assists and five rebounds. His 3-point field goal percentage of .857 is tied for the 4th-best in school history with Lorenzo Cugini against Campbell (also 6-of-7) on Jan. 10, 2015.
• ?Junior Andre Fox added 22 points, while sophomore Brandonn Kamga, also making his debut for the Purple & White, recorded 18 points with a team-leading seven rebounds.
• It was the first game High Point has had two players with 20 or more points since Jan. 14, 2015 when John Brown and Adam Weary each had 23 against Gardner-Webb.
• ?After allowing William & Mary three 3-pointers in the first 4:10 of the game, the Panthers shut down the Tribe, who only shot 2-of-17 the rest of the game.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

HISTORY vs. SEC OPPONENTS
The Panthers are 0-13 all-time against SEC opponents with three losses against Florida and Kentucky, two losses to Auburn, Georgia and Vanderbilt and one loss to South Carolina and Arkansas. HPU fell to Vanderbilt last season, 90-63, on Dec. 6, 2016 in Nashville. Miles Bowman Jr. led HPU with 22 points. The Panthers set a school record for 3-point shooting in a single game, hitting 12-of-15 for 80.0 percent.

A LOOK AT THE VOLUNTEERS (1-0)
Tennessee used a 28-0 run in the first half to fuel its way to an 88-53 victory over Presbyterian in its season-opener on Friday night at Thompson-Boling Arena in front of 15,047 fans. After Presbyterian scored the opening basket of the game, the Vols did not yield a point over the next nine minutes to help build a 46-14 lead going into halftime. UT also kept the Blue Hose scoreless over the final 2:11 of the opening frame while holding them to 26 percent shooting.
